Shot with with a Nikon D90, 18-105mm lens at 105mm, with a massive crop.

Pretty good considering the lens you are using! 105mm is crazy short for bird photography. I'm curious, could you post the original shot? What is a "massive crop"?
Wildlife photography is addictive, whatever gear you have it's a lot of fun. Keep it up!:D

White breasted nuthatch. I've got many shots of those suckers, but I can't say I've ever seen one so intensely blue. How much did you tweak the colors/contrast?

So beautiful

Regards :)

massive crop probably means a very small portion of the original image has been shown here after trimming... in most cases it ends in deterioration of the quality of the image, provided you are not using a high end lens and a tripod along with proper exposure

Thanks! And yep pretty much, but I think it turned out pretty good.

I used LR3, just bring down the brightness, and increasing the contrast. Vibrance + 25, Saturation +25
