Hi all,

Hoping to get some information on bird types, and a flower.

I was in Ireland for eye surgery recently (again) and took a few photos of some birds and a flower, and was hoping to find out what they were. So, if anyone is familiar with Irish birds please let me know. These were taken in St. Stephens Green in Dublin.

Thanks all,

Bruce.

Hi Tirediron,
Actually that was a great help, thanks so much (although, not so much on the flower :1219:).
Once you said gull, I looked them up and found them to be European herring gulls, juvenile and adult, as you said.
Same thing with the female mallard duck.
Amazing what you can find when you are led in the right direction.

Thanks so much again.

Now, anyone got anything better on the flower? :bouncingsmileys:

Correct ID on the birds.

The flower is in the sunflower family though they are as divergent as the dandelion when it comes to exact variety.

Kind of looks like either a teddy bear sunflower or a honey bear sunflower?

Hi waday,

Looks like you are correct.

Based upon this page Search Results it appears to be the Goldy Honey Bear, based upon how tall it was growing. It was at least a foot above my head.

Thanks so much for your help.
