Hello everyone,

Below are two photos from Lake Bled, in Slovenia - probably this location will be recognisable to many of you even if you haven't been there! Bled had been on my list of places to photograph for a long time so I had been thinking about the photos I would take several months before actually visiting. These two are, I think, the best of what I took from the few days I was there - probably not original, but more in the holiday "can't leave without a photo of..." category. Nonetheless, I'm interested in comments and suggestions as to any possible improvements in the processing I could make.

Many thanks!

Nice job. I especially like the reflections in both pictures.

Lake Bled is beautiful - been there a couple of times. I might have said that the color of the water in the first shot was a bit oversaturated, but that really is the color of the water. In the bottom picture the colors are lovely and seem natural...except for one REALLY orange cloud in the upper right.

I think these are beautiful!! Such a peaceful scene. I adore the colors. Thanks for sharing!

I think #2 is the better composition.

I knew leonore will comment here ;)

It surely looks like a beautiful place

#2 better
#1 oversaturated for me. I don't mind the blue as much as the green oversaturation

Thanks for the kind replies, very much appreciated!

I made a quick adjustment to #1, to tone down the saturation a bit overall and especially the green saturation as suggested. I hope it's an improvement!

Incidentally, if anyone's interested, I have many more photos from Slovenia on my SmugMug page here. I might pick a couple of them out to post here at a later time. Thanks again!

Ah, you went to Piran and Strunjan! Did you see any of the salt flats?

You got some lovely shots overall. I think you should post the three from Bohinj.

Thanks! We walked through what I think were the salt pans in Strunjan since we followed the path along the coast from Piran, was interesting. I understand there are much bigger ones in nearby Sečovlje but we didn't go there... Piran was such a relaxing place to be we didn't feel the need to explore much while we were there!

Thanks for the suggestion - I was thinking I might post a couple from Piran as well.

Yeah, there are bigger ones in Sečovlje and they're gorgeous. Really interesting, too. They've been using the same salt collecting methods for 700 years. The ones in Strunjan were dormant for a long time but have been revived in recent years. The first time I was in Slovenia was about 7 years ago (I think!) and they weren't active, but 2 years ago they were.

Neat - it didn't look like there was much going on when I was there but maybe it was just a quiet day! I would like to go back again sometime, I'll definitely make sure to check out Sečovlje as well in that case.

I thought I'd put in the photos from Lake Bohinj in this thread on the basis that it's quite near Bled... might leave ones from Piran for a new thread on another day. As before, I welcome opinions!
