A couple of shots of Blue Jays while they were taking peanuts from my feeder.

Beautiful shots! What did use to take them?

Nikon D7000 with a 28-300mm Sigma lens. The bird in flight was about 30 feet from me. The other shot the bird was only about 7 feet away.

Great shots! Congratulations!

You probably already realized this, but if I were to point a couple of things to improve... The background in the first one is kinda messy, and both subjects are centered.
But anyway, I love them. Great pics!

When you are taking pics of something on the fly, beggars cant be choosy. Im surrounded by trees so I have no choice but to have a kinda messy background. I prefocused the camera and waited until the bird flew in range to take the pic. Also the first pic is a crop while the second pic is full frame.

Oh nono, both pictures are great! Please don't misunderstand me... I just wanted to add something to my "great pics" message ;)
BTW, I tried to send you a PM for a question on the Sigma 28-300 but it seems your inbox is full. I'll try later. Hope it doesn't botter you.

Your jay with the peanut is a lot better looking than my shot of one with a "punk" haircut!

Oh wow, that is one ugly sucker. hahahaha
The ones that come to my feeder are the same ones. A couple looked like this but not nearly as ugly. Over the summer they have filled out nicely. Considering they look like they have no neck when they mature, seeing them like this is quite shocking. Thats quite a good shot. Too bad the background is so distracting.

Very nicel These critters never stay still for very long at our feeder. Almost as bad as hummingbirds.

Nice pictures shared by you I like the second one most. All seems very natural.
colors of the birds are very attractive. I like the beak of jays bird.

My shot of the baldie was a grab shot with my Canon SX30. I wasn't expecting the bird to stop after picking up the peanut. Usually they swoop down and grab one on the fly, not pausing long enough to catch a photo. Took the shot while I was under our summer patio, and can't do anything about the fence in the background!

It's molting. They all do it at some point, I think. I have a pic of a cardinal that was molting. It looked about as pitiful...... :)
