Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Good day.

My Canon Rebel XS is shooting blurry photos now and I don't know what to do to get it back to shooting clear and detailed photos it used to shoot.

Please help anyone.

Thank you very much.

Val

Can you post some examples of the problems you're having?

EDIT:

<-- Post #500

Maybe it is a lens problem, if the lens does not focus proberly that will cause the photos to be blurry.
You have not posted much information about your skill-level, but make sure that the autofocus is on and that it focusses completely before pressing the shutter all the way down.
Also as you haven't posted any examples, I don't know how much blur you are talking about, if it's very little blur it could be the ISO-speed.
Hope this helps you.

OrionsByte.......lol Congrats.....:hug::

Yep....post some pictures and let us see if we can figure your problem out.

It's more likely user error than a problem with the camera or lens.

Read you camera users manual Val.

test it with a tripod first or down on a table and use the timer....you might be confusing camera shake with a picture being out of focus

This is a misleading post. Even if she does make sure that the auto focus is on and it focuses before she presses the shutter button if her shutter speed is too slow she will still get blurry pictures. After reading this post she would probably think her lens is broken when it's probably not...

It could be something as simple as finger prints or debris or something on the lens. Or some settings could have gotten changed to manual or something. Just check to see what shutter speed is. It might be on Tv or S.

I did not say that, I said that if it was not on, it would cause it to be blurry. I have not said that it was the only possible reason, I am merely pointing out that if the autofocus is off, the images will as a result be blurry, of course it could be the shutter speed, but I assumed that the original poster has tried setting the camera to the auto setting and tried taking a photo at that.
Please don't take this as a snappy answer to your comment, I am merely explaining myself.

do you have it set on auto or manual focus?

Hi OrionsByte,

The auto focus is not working. I have it on "P". All the other functions like landscape, sports, etc are not working.
Whenever I put on autofocus and I press the shutter the flash comes up but cannot shoot.

Thanks for asking.

Hi,

I have it on "P". Auto focus is not shooting although the flash comes up and flashes a bit.

Thanks.

Does the auto focus respond at all, does the focus motor turn?
If nothing happens in the lens when you use auto focus, it sounds like a lens problem, especially if the focus assist light comes on, because that means that the camera is trying to focus.

P is an auto exposure mode....not auto focus.

The auto focus switch is on the lens.
