It really wasn't as big of a storm as the news media made it sound . Some high flooding and some rescues. There are always some fools who seem stay in their ocean front house when advised before hand to evacuate then call for help in the middle of the storm. It was fortunate that the ocean wasn't as rough as it has been in the other big storms. In '78 hundreds of homes were destroyed in the area.
The guy second from the left is the town harbormaster. While checking on boats he was knocked into the harbor by a wave and had to be rescued by a local resident.
This road was flooded for only the 3rd time in my 50+ years in town Blizzard of "78, Perfect Storm and Blizzard 2018
You would have thought that me blocking the road with my hazards on would have meant something to this guy
Normal high tide these boats are 6 ft lower
What do we do around here during a storm, grab beer and head to the ocean
The "Buffalo" the town high water rescue vehicle
This a neighborhood is a few blocks from the ocean
This firefighter was supposed to be on vacation in southern Florida
