It really wasn't as big of a storm as the news media made it sound . Some high flooding and some rescues. There are always some fools who seem stay in their ocean front house when advised before hand to evacuate then call for help in the middle of the storm. It was fortunate that the ocean wasn't as rough as it has been in the other big storms. In '78 hundreds of homes were destroyed in the area.

The guy second from the left is the town harbormaster. While checking on boats he was knocked into the harbor by a wave and had to be rescued by a local resident.

This road was flooded for only the 3rd time in my 50+ years in town Blizzard of "78, Perfect Storm and Blizzard 2018

You would have thought that me blocking the road with my hazards on would have meant something to this guy

What do we do around here during a storm, grab beer and head to the ocean

Interesting shots. I like the Buffalo, looks like a tough rig.

My wife lived in Rhode Island during the blizzard of '78. We have a coffee table book about it :)

Great set. I knew you'd be out there! The one of the flooded neighborhood should be in the paper.

Thanks. Yes the Blizzard of 78 was the wildest weather I've seen. I watched waves crash over 2 stories high beach houses to the point the houses collapsed and washed away

Thanks. My father was a firefighter so I've been out storm cashing since the 60's

'78 must have hit the entire nation. We lived in Louisville, KY at the time; we had record lows, and around 20" inches of snow to boot. The Kentucky State Police ordered all cars off every road in the Commonwealth. Probably the most paralyzing winter storm in my lifetime.

An acquaintance of mine who worked at Ford in St. Thomas Ontario wrote a very chilling first-hand account on the blizzard and white out conditions there. Visibility was reduced to a few feet, and folks took to sharing their cars with total strangers, rather than sit alone during the worst of it.

Wow! Good on ya to get out there and record this. You'd never catch me out and about in that kind of weather. Great set! #1 for me, too.

What an outstanding series.

There was a book about the blizzard of '78?? I just have pictures in my yearbook.

Glad to hear that you've weathered the storm safe and sound!

The first photo is fantastic - I might say crop a little off the bottom just to make the boat a little less on the central line of the photo - but honestly really cracking shot. It's one that you have to do a double take at as it looks akin to a drawing yet its clear that you've not edited as such - the colour, lighting and weather have just given it that effect!

Thanks. Ya not much editing done on these. These are just quick documentation snaps. 50+ mph winds and snow makes for quick work.
