Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Just bought myself a Digital SLR, and I was wondering if anybody had tips on putting borders around images...I threw this one together in about 2 minutes, but that'd be a pain to do on every image I wanted a border...Also, I think it's a little un-even...Any tips on how to make it even every time?

I rarely use boarders, but when I do I generally do it one of two ways both relying on pixel count in the boarder peices.

The first:

With MS Photodraw I use the rectangle tool to make a rectangle then use the resize object option and set my width. I then copy it and paste three times so I have four of the same piece. I arange them around the image and adjust the length to fit. (with MS photo draw any thing out side the backgroung box does not show in the final image, so I over shoot)

The second:

With Adobe Illustrator, It's pretty much the same process. By using the rectangle tool and clicking on the location you want it I can set the dimentions of the rectangle right there. This can be done four times or copy paste will work. But use the pixel count to keep it even or varied as you want. and then set the crop marks around the border. In adobe Illustrator the cropmarks are done via the rectangle tool as well, so with a little math you can calculate exatly where it needs to be.

Results (with this one I varied the bottom wile keeping the top and sides the same)

But that is just how I do it, take from it what you will or can.

how i do it (using photoshop), i resize my image to the final size i want it, then go image>canvas size>change it to pixels and bump the height and width to how ever much i want it (usually width 20 height 30 (extra for the signature), and then it centers it, create a new background and thats the border.

Thank you, both of you. I'll try both of those.

Also, I was wondering if you any critique on the photo.

I can do it this way in MS Photodraw but I have found it to be problemadic when croping comes into play, But this is almost garenteed to be my old software causing the issue I have and not the practice itself.
