Brevard, NC trip. Anyone been/have tips?

I may be moving to the Brevard in about a week for the summer and wanted to know if anyone could tell me of some areas that are a good shoot area? Obviously there are tons of mountains and waterfalls in the area but I have never been so I am going in blind as for the better areas that offer early morning/later afternoon light. I will be doing some hiking and will have my camera with me when doing that so I will find my own places but would like to know if there are some automatic go-to areas for photography.

I plan on doing some downtown shooting as well as the outdoors type stuff, maybe even catch one of these "white squirrels" they are so proud of!

Beautiful downtown area and the back roads into town make for a wonderful drive. I've only visited with a car club but seem like a great place.
