this isn't about Brian Williams or his politics, news casting or such.
This story REALLY reminded me of what our parents taught us.
* work your hardest, show your best and it will get you places. Even if others aren't working as hard as you and they seem to be inching up the ladder the same as you. THEN, 1 day, an unexpected opportunity will appear and YOU will be the ready- one.
Everyone else will call it luck, you'll know it was consistent hard work*

I remember so many times saying to my parents, 'but this will take forever, OR my boss will never quit, I will be an assistant mgr FOREVER a...etc.

Truthfully, WHO ever thought Brian Williams was going anywhere for the next 10 years? So this may be that opportunity for someone in the wings...
Hard work pays off!

Or Dan Rather, for that matter?! What a shame for the American people that we seem to have only liars and people of low-character to recite the evening news for us. I guess we get the media we deserve.

Are you suggesting that Brian Williams will be leaving the NBC News and therefore creating an opening for someone else?

So who do you think is next in line for that job?

And how does your parable connect with the Brian Williams story?

I don't know if he is leaving. Just a thought for anyone whoever felt their rise in their job may be taken by someone never going anywhere so therefore, why try to exceed for that position.?
I may not be saying that correctly, just trying to get a theory across.

I like Brian's delivery and he seems like a down to earth guy. I get my news source from many different views tho, so see many sides to the same stories.

I got 2 nickles says he's gone. You do know he's been caught in lie #2?! Seems he's been saying he watched someone commit suicide years back, on the job. Now he's recanted to he only "heard" about it. You know, if someone will embellish one or two little things, I'm sure they'll embellish whatever they have to to make their leanings mainstream.

IMO, the news producers (the ones who write what the news readers read) ALWAYS embellish, select, create, sensationalize, obscure, spindle, repeat, and editorialize.

The news readers almost NEVER know what the heck they are talking about.

Also IMO, the job of news reader requires a level of naiveté that would be unacceptable in any other field of endeavor. For example; being able to read the BS with a straight face requires the reader to not actually know anything about it.

Right, as far as I know the on-air "talent" only reads the prompter.

News anchors used to be reporters as well. Not anymore. These days it seems it seems the only requirements are minimal literacy and white teeth. The Cronkite days are long gone.

It's pretty much all spin, political rhetoric or in some cases, utter BS. I rarely watch TV because most of it is mind numbing crud anyway. I do enjoy a bit of Judge Judy whilst I'm eating my dinner though.

I do wish there was a channel that my husband was not always 'yelling' , 'that is so wrong..'
They do a lead-in and then don't ask the appropriate questions!!

(But this started as a work hard, cause you never know thread. Not that I was advocating news channels and anchors ..FYI)
