While my night out shooting was mostly a failure, I did get this picture that turned out okay. I like it, but I'd like to know what I could do to improve it. I tried cropping it closer from side to side, but it ended up feeling very claustrophobic. Leaving it wide like this leaves some of the stairs to the left in the picture, which I think throws off the balance a little. Any ideas what I could do to make this better?

As usual, THANKS! Seriously, I'm learning so much here.

Damn...it just occurred to me that I could have backed up and included the entire stairs, which also had a blue canopy over the door. That might have been an interesting shot, but I don't remember the details of the steps and the door. Maybe there was a reason I didn't include them. I don't recall. I think maybe I was too focused on the cool car with the matching blue/white garage door behind it.

Looks good as a place to start. I might have stepped to the side of the car where the steps were and taken a shot with a bit of the side in it, but then I don't know what was one the other side of the car. One suggestion, you might want to try a polarizer as this may tend to cut down some of the reflections off the cars surface.

Cheers,

Looks tilted.
Need CPL filter.

The driveway is tilted in relation to the garage, so it was a trade-off. I decided it made more visual sense to keep the garage square, but it does still make it look tilted. I'm not sure how to solve that one!

What is CPL?

I see what you mean. There is a way to correct this. You might consider it cheating though...I don't, but you might...

Straightened according to the vertical lines. Car still looks slightly tilted.

Straightened according to vertical lines and then selected the car and straightened it separately and filled in the white space using content aware fill. Obviously if this were my picture I would have spent more time on it and had a larger file to work with but you get the idea.
