Britek monolights

Has anyone here had any experience with Britek equipment? I'm looking to purchase (notice I didn't use "invest in") an affordable studio flash setup, and I've seen quite a few Britek ads in the magazines and also on eBay.
Just wondering if they're a good value or not. I figured they would be inexpensive enough to learn on until I could justify investing in a higher-end system (I'd love to have a "Broncolor Minicom 80" kit, but I'd have to sell a kidney).

Also, I see "SP" and "Smith Victor" lighting a lot on eBay...how do they compare?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
