Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I began building a website with wix.com and ran into a huge wall. files must be 5mb or less...
Is there some magic code I could use to incorporate my flickr stream into the site without actually linking outward?
Or rather, is there another free website generator that allows larger files??

Why would you ever need a file to be larger than 5mb on a website?

Even with the fastest broadband connection, a 5mb is still going to take more time to load than most people will wait. Use a program like Jalbum or the gallery-builder in Lightroom and then upload the gallerys. I would keep your thumbnails under 75Kb and your "full size" files under 250Kb.

Make your files smaller. They don't need to be that big on a website.

You should readup on resizing images for the web. A 5 MB fill wont even be looked at by most people. Its a huge file. if yu want people to be able to view a high res version of a thumbnail, trry and keep it under 2mb.

Smugmug.com !!! MMMM i use this... and i created a very simply website and you can upload as much files you want and photos as big as 15mb...
this is my site Jason Villamil Photography

And, again, WHY would you want to do that? Your picture, "THAT-TREE" is 4256X2832 and is 6.34 MB in size. Who has a monitor large enough to need a picture that big? The only good that serves is to have a HI RES picture on your site for someone to steal.

You will use much more bandwidth and storage if you don't resize your images. WIX gets REALLY spendy for storage space and you'll eat it up quick if you don't resize.
It's simple to do in photoshop. Write an action to batch process all of your images and save the smaller size to a new file. Run the batch, walk away. Come back in 10 minutes and it's done for you.

I made mine smaller, but you always can link in wix if you wanr to use a different site to show photos. Just insert a pic and go settings link to...
