So...I needed to raise my f-stop in order to get more of the flowers in focus right?

C&C per req: I think given the lens you had, these turned out very well. Depth of field in close-up work is very challenging. In fact, when working in extreme situations, it can often be less than 1mm! One of the keys is to ensure that the important area is in sharp focus, because often (usually) you can't have the whole image in focus (Without special techniques and software; search "Focus stacking"). I think the crop in #3 is fine; the only issue that I see with any of the images really is that the blacks are under-exposed. Some additional lighting would have helped, but that's not huge.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

I agree, impressive considering the lens. The crop on #3 is good, but the image quality is starting to suffer.... the noise is noticeable. You could have stopped your ISO down two stops and still had plenty of shutter speed. DoF look fine to me.

I also think you did well. However, you could have easily shot @ f16 & had a high enough shutter speed & you would have gotten a lot more DOF.

Thanks! These pointers are awesome. I can't wait until the day that I *know* what settings to use for each shot. Right now I am still just playing around with different settings and getting lucky when I get a decent shot. It helps so much to have good advice/feedback.
