Your first photo needs basic tone adjustment -- the histogram is badly compressed.

I made the tone correction in Levels and while I was there I also color corrected the photo and lightened her eyes a little.

Take Care,
Joe

I am seeing some real nasty color bars in the second one, like the jpeg was compressed too much.

The backlighting is not very flattering either. She either needs to shave her arms or you need to reduce/ remove/ relocate that flash.

The hidden left hand in #1 may have been better if she had placed it on top of her back leg. The right hand/arm draws tension for me. Also, it is an opinion that a females hands is best viewed from the edge rather than flat towards the camera. There is a color shift from the shoulder to the elbow and is accentuated further to the right hand. There is a saying... if it bends, bend it. She does not look comfortable in the pose.

Shot 1 - she looks uncomfortable and the colours are much better in the edited version above, but I agree with the comments on the position of her arm. The location does not match the way she is dressed and it doesn't work for me, it seems as though she is dressed for dinner but sitting in a high school!

Shot 2 - I love!! She looks great and the crop works well!

Thanks guys for the comment, I will be very careful next time and try to apply all the comments for a better outcome.

i love the second one... i think her face is lit amazingly.

Photo no. 1- The wrinkles on the neck dont look nice, the skin tone of the right arm does not match the shoulders. Lowering the right shoulder would remove the wrinkles. Despite editing, the skin tone of the fingers still looked awful. Need to improve the location of your strobes. When shooting your models at an angle, dont let them sit with balanced shoulders. For female models, the shoulder closer to the camera must be lower than the other one to make them more feminine. Fingers must be open a little. For male portraits, its the other way around.

Photo no. 2 - Need to boost the back light a little more. Outline of the back and hair is a bit faint. I like your soft approach.
