Here is a few picture's of my kid this past few months, that I have obviously taken. I was just wondering what your input is, and how I could improve my shooting related to him with a digital. I learned back in the day on a normal SLR, and worked for our yearbook staff along with my mom teaching me how to use Enlargers and such. I have been out of it for about 14 years, so this is my come back, but wondering on opnions.

Thanks!

I would love to see the first one with a bit more contrast...

the third one looks a bit soft...

very cute kid (love the curls in the first one)

Love the first one.

I find in the second one that the white is too blown out (white balance issue maybe...I'm just a newbie so not exactly sure what causes it)...the hats on the ducks almost look like holes right through the picture.

I like them. No1 is my favourite. I agree that the highlights look slightly blown on No2. No3 would be great but to dof is to shallow for me. The eyes are just out of the focus area.

Thank you for the advice, and I will see what I can do for them since I'm still pretty much a digital noob in the sense of "developing" shots within Photoshop.

Thanks!

All right,

I think I finally had a little bit of time to correct these issues, using Photoshop and Light room in tandem. If not, you can give me a little bit advice, and I hope I made the right corrections.

Mjs,

Rest of ya,

For the softness, is there any way to fix that in PS or LR? Thanks, just curious for future reference.

Here is another one I shot in B & W as the first one, which this one I should have put up instead, but it's all good.

Here is what I was able to do with the image: Sharpened it a bit, adjusted the levels to add more light and adjust the midtones a bit, then used the dodge tool to lighten the eyes.

Don't tell me the photos are of your wife, husband, child, mother, father, BFF, chick you hung out with in high school.

I don't care and if I am made aware, I skip the thread. Personal attachment often derails honest assessment.

Oh yeah, 800 pixels on the long side dude.

Just my 2¢.
