Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Heya! I am new here :)

I hope I can get some great technical help from you guys! Basically with my photography, I seem to have the whole creative flare going on and have ignored delving too much into the technical side of it and just experiment with stuff! I am a bit of a 50mm addict :O Hehe I love it!

One proble I seem to have with my Nikon is getting pictures pin sharp like eyes! I would love some help on improving on this. I think it is possibly because I love having shallow Dof in my photos and tend to shoot around F1.8 and I know getting eyes in focus properly is hard at this aperture so maybe I should shoot at a higher f Stop? Thanks!

Here a few snaps of my beautiful daughter that I have taken :)

I think the third one down composition wise is the best, the others dont do much for me - But I'm not a huge fan of the distracting purple flowers in the foreground

hi there
I'm far from pro, still consider myself a newbie even though I've been here for a few years, so take what I say for what its worth.
first off, its easier for people to view and comment on your photos if you put a bit of space between them and number the pics for reference.

I like your last shot best, though I'm thinking maybe some pp magic could smooth out the newborn-mottled skin?
I know this isnt on the topic you asked about, but in general you want to try not to cut off arms and legs (as in #2), and generally speaking, tiny little ones tend not to look their cutest flat on their backs.

regarding pics 1-3, I have no idea how to explain this, hopefully someone smarter than me will chime in, but the beauty of shooting with a shallow dof is that your subject stands out from the background. you havent really accomplished this here. I think maybe because the subject and background are too close? not sure.
and personally, I'm not a big fan of the blurred foreground thing, especially not in pic #3, it blocks our view of the baby. she's a sweetie!

Thanks for your comments! :) Yeah I refuse to photoshop babies skin, something very wrong about doing that :P

Ideally, when shooting newborns you want to be at eye level. 1 & 2 you are shooting down on the baby, it's comes across very awkward.

Thanks for your comments. These are personal shots I took of my daughter and they are some of my favourites. But yes I am trying to use my creativity with the technical side of photography too to get better so I will try to shoot from eye level :) Thanks

Hey Vonstarr.
I'm not an expert but one thing I can tell you for sure is people that take the same photo's in the same way as everyone else get a bit boring.
Some rules are there to be broken, so using a bit of creativity is what can make you stand out from the crowd!

Don't always take to heart what people say about your pics. Some people will put irrelevant comments, then when you look at theire pics, they are a load of tosh!

I'd like to see more of your work :)

Yeah I noticed that :P I try to be creative, and I am very much so as opposed to taking pictures of batteries or something bland. Being technical is great and I want to be better at that side of it but if you haven't got the creativity but you're spot on technically then the pictures are just like every other :D But yeah I appreciate the feedback! :)

Also I just watched a photography tutorial on shooting newborns and onwards. The guy on it was shooting from above and not eye level and actually recommended this so I don't think there is anything wrong with it. :)
