Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
1. I really like this photo but what the subject is seems to be distorted. I mean you can't see that it was a flower, I don't think. I was playing with DOF on my new camera (OMG <3 D7000). I'm wondering if it's still an interesting photo to others despite the not knowing for sure what it is.

I can see its a flower, but I can see how others may miss that. I like the blend of colors on the right, pleasing pastels. Overall my first impression was kind of trippy. There is so much going on in the left half of the frame, and so little in the right. Its interesting, I would play around with different crops (perhaps closer?) see if you can get something even more abstract out of it. cool shot.

Thanks, actually when I zoom in and crop to just the focused area it makes a really neat abstract photo.

Good for you playing around w/ shallow DoF!! It's tons of fun!!
Here is a site to show you how other people used it.....
17 Beautiful Images with Shallow Depth of Field

As for your shot......It's fun. It has some nice blur but overall it's just not that interesting. Keep shooting!! I'm sure you'll find an interesting way to use shallow DoF!!

Thanks Mishele. I have found I enjoy shooting people most and that is the most interesting and creatively inspiring for myself despite I am a nature girl by heart. I'm actually really shy & have anxiety around people so it's funny how that works out. Yesterday I received my camera and had nobody to take photos of, so I just went to the park but most of the flowers are about dead and I didn't feel inspired by the empty playground and ball fields either lol. So it was the 'almost dead flowers' which I took photos of. I agree, it's not the most interesting photo but it's sure is 1000 leagues from where I started 6 months ago & that makes me happy.

I am definitely checking out the link, thanks!

AWESOME examples, love those photos! I especially like the one of the egg & the bikini girl. Thanks for sharing.

I would like it more if the DoF weren't so shallow. It almost even feels like motion blur. Focal length? Shutter? Aperture? ISO?

Definitely was not motion blur. I took others of this plant with less DOF but either way I guess I'm not that creative when it comes to nature photography.

For me, I like the background colors as was mentioned, and the oof quality is good. But the subject isn't holding my interest. I can't really say much more than... Okay, I just looked at the large version on your flickr and would like to modify that evaluation. The bright area in the middle of the in-focus area is kind of a jumbled mess, however, I do think the 'whiskers' shooting out to the right are pretty incredible... the colors really go together well with the background.
