C&C The Chair - **NSFW - Not Safe for work - NSFW**

Just guessing, it's a sexy young woman in a sexy pose, which says little aside from sex.

The 'artistic nude' is nearly always pornography done well.

your guess was pretty wrong as to what it was. It was actually a pretty interesting image/idea, though it definitely wasn't what I'd call sexy.

Keep guessing.

Now I am interested!

 Wow... I'd hate to see your definition of 'pornography'.

How can you objectively define the mass majority of "artistic nudes" as anything but pornography? Very seldom are these images of average looking women, and even less seldom are they of men. If it were truly about the human figure, why do we use only the most socially accepted ideal form?

Of course there have been images which illustrate this exact point - and is why I said "nearly always", but we all have an pretty good idea about the ideal form of the human body, we can pick up any playboy for that. As far as I can tell, the only difference between soft porn and the overwhelming majority of "artistic nudes" is style.

(NOTE TO OP: this has nothing to do with your image, I'd really like to see it. Please post a link)

The same reason that people take lots of pictures of sunsets and gorgeous horses and beautiful cars. If you're taking pictures to highlight the beauty of the human form, most people want to see the most idealized versions.

If you're taking a picture to highlight the form of the horse, do you take a picture of a sickly horse? No, not if you're trying to highlight the horse's form. You might take a picture of a sickly horse, but then it's for other reasons. Just like you can take nude pictures of unattractive people. Additionally, by your argument, we should see a proportionate number of pictures of hyundais to pictures of ferraris. But yet for every ferrari there are probably like 1000 pictures of ferraris, whereas for every hyundai there are probably like 2 pictures of it, and those are just because it happened to be in the background.

People like beautiful things. Taking pictures of beauty is different from pornography. Pornography, by definition, is for the purpose of erotic arousal. Beautiful pictures may do that from time to time, but if it's not their aim, it's not pornography.

When interpreting an image, there are two main parts. The image and the viewer. The thoughts, beliefs, history etc. of the viewer, have a lot to do with how they interpret the image.

Some people want to interpret nudity as pornography....other people don't. One people's definition of pornography will be different from the next person's...which is why this debate is always rather pointless.

Ok. Then sunsets are pornography, too :) I'm not saying that this "pornography" is a bad thing, I don't want to interject morality into this. Porno has it's place. But it's place is not the same as art.

Initially I was going to go into other topics, such as an image's ability to mean different things to different people, and if the image goes beyond simple sensory stimulation - but I couldn't really express this adequately and changed course.

I'd really like to see this image, LOL.

oh come on... what did i miss? thats what I get for having a life off the internet... stupid family

This was actually one of the hottest shots I've ever seen.......I feel bad that so many people missed out on seeing it!!

I'm not sure that I would call it "hot" but it was without a doubt the most creative shots I've seen posted here in a long time, and without a doubt the most creative partial nude I have seen in a VERY long time.

OP, per the mod's post, how about re-posting this as a link in the People forum?

Oh sureeeee... make a sucker out of me, see if I care! :P

The reason Rob never posted a link in this thread is because the image he posted was not his.

He was asking for CC for an image from this photographer, found here: Grisha Selivanov

THE SITE CONTAINS NUDE PHOTOGRAPHY.

While he did not say he did take the photo, he made no indication that he didn't.
