Always seeking to improve. Here are a couple of shots from a photo session I did today.
They are unretouched so blemishes will be removed from the final product.
I've sometimes offered advice on portraiture. Here's some of my work.

Bah....your face is gross.
Except for the beard. Gives you a dashing woodsman look.

I actually like solid color backgrounds.
I use solid white and solid black all the time.

I prefer the second shot. It's got a more formal portraiture look to it, and quite frankly, we need more of them on the forum. I don't mind the blue so much, but I think it could be toned down a touch in post.

I'm Interested to see what the edited versions look like.

Headshots for an actor/rapper. Solid backgrounds are de rigueur in the industry. He just got a new chest plate tattoo and wanted to emphasize it.

Are you planning on giving both shots to him? His skin tones look totally different from one shot to the next, so I would try and get them to match a bit better if they will be viewed together.

I think the technical side is good, the eyes in the left one could use a little more light, but they're not bad. I'm NOT fond of the background in #1 however; I think if you eliminated the door just to the right of his face, it would help. The solid blue works well, and was a good choice. My main concern however is his expression; unless he's solely interested in a particular type of character role, this somewhat angry/tough-guy expression is not, IMO, the best choice. I can see having it in #1, that works, but #2 should be a more neutral look.

I really like the second photo, including solid background.

I appreciate wanting to emphasize the tattoo, but in the first photo, I dislike the jacket/no-shirt combination. Maybe if he was wearing a v-neck with the jacket, it would be better?

He gets to see the proofs to decide which photo he wants
Unfortunately, the agency decides on the wardrobe. He wanted the tough guy look that was his branding.

interesting factoid. The guy in the last picture is a stuntman wearing body amour (Xion Protective Gear)

Good eye contact and expressive faces on the last 3. That always floats my boat.
