My wife and I decided to have some messy fun in the garage. This is one I particularly liked.

Thanks! I put down lots plastic so it only took about 45 minutes to clean up, a couple hours to eat the cake with family and friends, and about 2 days to get all the flower out of our ears. lol

Good work. I think a bit of back lighting would suit these shots well though, since they're both wearing dark clothes and have dark hair that blends into the backdrop.

Yep completely agree.

Actually I tried it but I ran into two problems. 1 lack of space behind us. We were really only standing about 2 and a half feet in front of a black bed sheet. 2 was I only had a small speed light as my 3rd light source. I was using the optical slave trigger on it and it was not syncing properly with the Einsteins or the fall off on the t1 time was too long resulting in bury motion of the flour. It seemed as though the speed light was firing at just a fraction of a second later almost resulting in a double exposure of parts of the image. It had me scratching my head for about 15-20 test shots until I realized what was happening. The Einsteins were exposing for a duration of about 1/10,000 sec. I'm not sure if that's why the speedlight was having issues or more likely that I was not using an actual sync cord or transmitter. As we got more flour in our hair I didn't worry about it anymore. I figured it gave enough separation that I could live with it.

Those are fun photos and quite a clever set up. Really well done. There is a celebration here called Blancos y Negros in a village I pass by where cars and people are inundated with flour. That stuff doesn't come off your car as easily as you'd think and I still have it coming out of my window frames six months later.

Well-done shots. Good expressions, nice set-ups! I'm not too bothered by the dark hair and dark background combination, since in most of these photo the flour provides some lightening-up of the hair, preventing what otherwise would have been a total merge of hair and background.
