What's new

Camera cases. Whatcha got & are you happy?

I've got 2 pelicans that I'm very happy with. One holds the body with 35mm attached, 2 filters, and an extra battery, and the other holds the other lenses and everything else. I divided everything into 2 because I transport them by bicycle on occasion, and the smaller sizes fit in my panniers. Also nice cause I can just grab the case with the body if I need to travel light for whatever reason. I went with foam instead of dividers to be sure everything would be protected if I crash the bike or something.

Pelican 1510... totally satisfied. I would recommend getting the divider set rather than the pluck foam. Its actually cheaper than most rollers from Tamrac and LowePro with much more protection. Rollers make it easy to transport while lugging other luggage AND it fits in most over head compartments of airplanes CORRECTLY (not sideways taking up two slots).

but it is a heavy beast and with my gear I wonder how I'll sneak it onboard? Perhaps I'll have to shoulder the body and telephoto to get the weight down :D

Doesn't' it have to be under 80lbs? (I never fly so someone please correct me)

15kg if I recall correctly. That's like what, 35lbs?

33 lbs... so i could see how you could go over that with a reasonable gear setup. Especially since the case alone (Pelican 1560) weighs about 20lbs.. haha

I'd recommend dividers over foam. Dividers will still be working a year or two down the road when the foam is getting worn out and torn up. Plus, if you want to rearrange your case, you don't have to buy new dividers.

1654 for the big lights:

I have Tamrac pro 8: 2 bodies w/ lenses attached, 2 flashes, camera-battery charger, bunch of AA, cards, another prime and zoom lens, cleaning tools, gray card, hand sanitizer, etc. I also have attached to it small case/bag attached to it w/ additional accessories.
I used to have lowerpro backpack style but it wasn't very useful for me, especially when moving around during outdoor shoots.
