what does the world think would be easier,

To combine the shutter and lens from an old unusable camera, and attach THEM to the body of a modern low quality camera that shoots half frame,

or take the mechanism from the modern low quality camera and put that INTO the body of the unusable old camera?

Neither. If I have an unusable old film camera I scrap it for parts or better yet sell it for parts and buy something usable.
