What's new

camera shake??

great thanks so much i appreciate all the help you guys gave!! i will watch my shutter speeds and see if this reduces my issues.

It most definitely will, I would also invest in a flash. My 580 ex II came in today, along with my pocket wizards, and i can already tell it will breath new life into my photos.

BTW, since i got this flash, my other one is for sale. Its a 270 ex. I'm willing to do a VERY reasonable price. PM if interested.

The 1/focal length rule is a good rule of thumb, but it is just a guide, not a hard and fast rule. It depends much more on your technique - if you used to be a sniper in the military you can probably shoot sharp handheld images at 1/30s @ 300mm, whereas some people like Michael J Fox for instance, would have trouble getting a sharp shot at 1/200s @ 35mm.

Your first shot is definitely camera shake. You could have gone to 400 ISO and 1/200s, or you could have simply taken another shot paying careful attention to your technique. Whenever you're in the zone of the 1/focal length shutter speed you have to be careful.

Michael J. Fox always has his martinis shaken........because of Parkinson's

You dirty fokker...you made me laugh...I have kinetic tremor and my photos still come out half-way still...course I use a shutter speed that is greater than the lens (ie 1/60 for a 50mm lens and adjust ISO according to available light and aperture for DoF desired...

Enhance your credibilty by making the minimal extra effort needed to use the shift key for making the appropriate capital letters.

I heard he's been working at Home Depot lately ...... as a paint mixer.

Is anyone else not able to click on flickr images and go to the web site, or right click on the pictures on TPF? I tried to open the OPs images, or go to their flickr by right clicking to open in a new windows, but I only get the "hand" icon over the image and cannot right click. Seems to have started recently.
