Camera vs Eye Comparison

It has been argued that reality needs at least one observer. Put two observers together, and we can start arguing which version of reality is "real". Which brings up the parable of the blind men and the elephant...

Wow! ISO looks like the best comparison. However, there are other ways to see using the light that is available in the dark. For instance you can use light amplification as in night vision GenX type equipment. Then there is the IR vision. And thermal imaging which is a bit different than IR. and both work though rain and clouds. What about radar (sound waves) to see in the dark? All this is available for a nominal fee, but not real good for quality photos. All these take advantage of some form of energy that is reflected or put off by the subject being observed. Photons, electrons, Protons, RF, IR, UV, whatever. Digital camera sensors don't work like the human eye. But one day they may...

The fact that we have two eyes also adds to the superiority over the average camera.

Yep. It's how we process our perception of depth and a 3rd dimension. People who have lost the function of of one eye have problems perceiving depth.

Note, virtually all earth creatures that have eyes, have 2 of them.

^^ i wonder if there is any effective resolution improvement going on as well. Might the brain process the visual information from either eye in a way that improve our ability to see clearly?

The human eye really isn't as great as it could be, seeing how the cones and rods are pointed the wrong way. The image you see is highly processed by the brain, a raw image from the eye at night would be upside down, brighter at the edges(there are more rods on the edges), and have a blind spot in the middle from the nerve bundle going through the retina.
