Can anyone please advise on achieving a certain look?

Hey all,

I'm trying to get to the bottom of achieving a certain look to my photos.

I've seen a few posts about it, none of which have been any real use, as it seems quite a favourite 'look' amongst contemporary photographers.

A lot have people have refered to it as a 'painted' look or 'annie leibovitz' style.

It's characterised by muted muddy tones, a 'soft' feel but still sharp and crisp. Blacks look solid and the picture has a good tonal range but seems 'light'.

Two me, it looks like images that are well composed and lit, but which have been processed to 1-2 stops under-exposure.

my same impression as well. Looks like the exposure slider was set under, the shadow slider bumped up slightly, and whites slider pulled back a touch.

increase the exposure . IF that could be done i think you may of achieved what you were going for

Also the biggest thing that was done to these was some split toning.

That's how you get the "feel" and "look"
