Can anyone recommend a speedlight case / pouch?

Looking for a case for my LumoPro LP160's (which are roughly the size of a 580 EXII). 1 case for each speedlight, not a case that will hold multiple speedlights.

They don't need a belt loop or multiple pockets. I simply want some basic protection for them, like the case that comes with a 580 EXII. I don't want something bulky.

Anyone suggestions?

Can you tell us a little more about what your specific needs are? You said individual protection for a couple of speedlights? Does this mean they are transported seperately, carried loosely in a bag of gear? Are they going to be carried on your person while you are out shooting and want them protected but in reach?

A simple case to put a speedlight light in so I can toss it into a bag and not worry about it getting scuffed. Basically EXACTLY like the case that ships with the 580 EXII, except I haven't been able to find a way to purchase those seperately.

It sounds like you'd benefit a lot from a camera bag with enough partitions for your body(s), lenses and speedlights. But a quick Google search for "speedlight case" did yield several promising looking links, if you don't mind another brand name on the case.

I have one.

The ones that I saw were either bulky or had belt loops or various pockets. Did you happen to see one that met my original requirements?

I'm not so sure.....If we're talking about your standard white mens crew length sock, I'd think it would provide better protection than cotton bag. Socks I buy are certainly thicker.


But while I'm back in this thread....I have to ask: What is so offensive about a little nylon belt loop that makes it a deal breaker for you if you just want some protection for your flash units while in a bag?

I have nothing specifically against a belt loop if the case is still slim. I've only seen 2 standalone speedlight cases with belt loops, and they were both bulkier cases that had extra pockets for batteries, etc.

My ideal requirements are very simple: I just want a plain jane case to slide a speedlight in. No bells and no whistles, no added bulk. If I can find a nice slim case and it happens to have a belt loop, fine. If not, maybe I'll be buying a few bottles of Crown Royal.

Here is what I actually use for my 580 EX-II as a stowaway bag...the drawstring, suede-finish pouch that came with my 70-300 VR-G Nikkor zoom lens. It's the perfect size, and has more padding than a Crown Royal bag, since this is sort of a synthetic leather-like material. Beautiful gray finish. This is the finest soft (non-hard, non-foam) pouch I have ever owned, and I actually have six or seven pouches. The bottom is padded.
