CAN SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT THESE PICS?

First time ever doing a photoshoot. With a back drop . Had a bit sunlight from a big window Nd just a small soft box light . I need feed back. I used the Canon T3. With a 50mm 1.8.

move the subject further away from the back drop so it is blurred a bit the folds take away on the plus I see no shadows on the backdrop something I still have not mastered

Also they seem a bit out of focus in the face. but could just be me.

The canon T3 does not have Spot metering mode, which is pretty much essential for doing portraiture.

You needed a source of fill lighting, the far right photo is badly under exposed.

I don't get the large black bars, that dramatically reduce subject scale in the 3 horizontal shots. :scratches head

they all look pretty soft to me. they look soft all around though so it doesn't look like missed focus. maybe camera shake? also as diskojoe stated, some key elements are getting cut off. i'd either take a step back or go in much tighter and get a "fill the frame" type shot.

Well I didn't use my flash camera. Because it gave out a fake portrait effect. Which causes more shake. Thanks everyone for your feedback! Really appreciate it! Il try again someday. Plus it's very hard working with a 2 month year old baby. I kept trying to prefect the baby's face instead of very thing else.
