I did some wave shots while on vacation. There were 30ft. waves crashing around me and I don't think that I caught one shot that did them justice.:lmao: But then again maybe that is because I was there.....=) Any other C&C is welcome, especially on the B&W conversion.

Damn girl! Shots #2 and #3 are freaking awesome!

Those are cool shots, I like the contrast between the water and rocks in #2 and #4, though the rocks in the foreground seem underexposed, but then again I guess that's what gives you such contrast so I'm not sure that it's a bad thing.

I especially like #2's composition and sense of distance.

Ok then.......lol I guess you can feel the power. I wasn't expecting that response.

mikehaugen, yes they were all prolly underexposed. Bad rainy weather when I was taking these shots. It's part of the problem w/ photography when on vacation, you can't pick the weather. You shoot when you are there. lol

Bram.....where the sky meets the wave is my fav. part too.....=)

Thanks for all the comments!!!

Nope, I don't quite feel the power. #2 is the closest one to making me feel it but there is still nothing to give me a sense of size.

Also, your B&W needs work imo.

Can you give me some tips on how to make these conversions better? Or tell me what you don't like about them.
The waves in my mind do not do what I saw justice. I should go search out some wave shots and see what makes you "feel" them.

This is a snapshot but this in my mind shows power. Does it?

From a complete noobie, I simply love them! Your lucky you had the opportunity to travel and capture such lovely photos! :)

As I said, there is nothing that gives a sense of size of the waves. Photography plays tricks on the mind and experienced photogs know that. Therefore nothing here tells us how big those waves really are... You have to put something in the photo that gives us an idea. The last one you posted is much better in that sense.

As far as the conversions are concerned, there are huge chunks of blacks with no details whatsoever.

Cloud, thanks. I'll go play w/ some shots and see if I can get any detail out of the dark spots. I'm thinking that they are going to be too underexposed.
