This was taken New Year's night in my friend's kitchen. I used a high contrast to completely "white out" the walls. I did a circle crop on the photo to draw the attention closer to them. This was taken at a film speed of 1600, no flash, and a shutter speed of I think 100 something. Slightly blurred but still nice, I think.

*I don't have a real editing program so the "frame" was done in PowerPoint.... thus explains the crappy feel to it.

Thanks for looking! Comments welcome.

They look so happy! I think with such happy expressions you probably don't even need to crop it like that to get the focus on them.

Nice dynamic pic!

One thing I would add is the use of a reflector below the couple. It would bring out their faces more and really help her eyes. The all-black is a little distracting.

For this apparently being an absolutely spontaneous photo where you had to use the spur of the moment to get THIS VERY expression, it is really good and I do like the treatment you are giving it here. The circle enhances the scene --- this is something I have NEVER thought about ever, at all... these kind of frames... hmph *wandering away thinking*

Thanks for all the comments everyone - like LaFoto said Mark, I really didn't have time to do any lightin effects as it was spur of the moment. Actually, I'm surprised the foto turned out as bright as it did at all since the kitchen lighting was quite poor and emitted a very orange/yellow light on camera.

AprilRamone - I think you're right but the original shot shows some of the wall to the left of them along with a pantry and I just hated that..... I don't know, maybe it doesn't take away from the shot at all but I liked the circle crop... just wish I had a better program at my disposal than PowerPoint... lol

Taralyn, I thought I'd do a quick edit to pull out some of the pinky-orange cast to it. I hope you don't mind, I'll take it down immediately if you want!

I think you might have pulled a little too much out. They look a bit green on my monitor.

Ahh, yes. The risk of using an uncorrected monitor, and posting after an obvious pro.

I'll take down my feeble attempt.

No need to do that (though it's probably good to ask the OP first).
The original is a bit orange, which I hadn't noticed at first glance, so I think it was good to point that out.

Meh. I personally am not crazy about reposting other people's work. I shouldn't have done it in the first place, by my own standards. I'm simply not good enough yet to be responsible for anyone elses work but my own. ;)
