First, is this a happy accident or did YOU set this up? Candid or not we still have to decide the lens focal-length, the proper f-stop ( not just for exposure-that's a given-but for THIS kind of depth-of-field). You NAILED depth-of-field, exposure, and YOU DID NOT USE FLASH! BRAVO!!!

Nearly everybody on this site and even on the Professional forums think they must destroy the three dimensionality of their portraits and FILL Flash everything!

When I'm doing candids at weddings THIS is what I do if there is ANY available light.

Yes and no. I actully DID use flash. This fellow had a green screen photo booth setup. He was using two constant light LED boxes. I was able to get this image while he was talking to someone so I could have one of the art pieces as a backdrop. So although this is candid it is also a 3 light setup as I had my sb600 on camera bouncing left and up.

The exif shows it was the 28mm f2.8 ais but I had forgotten to switch my saved lenses in my Nikon Df to the nikkor 135mm f2 ais.

Got me there! Whatever you bounced the key flash off really created a nice soft light AND your shutter speed blended-in the background lighting--or is that another flash?

Good balance in the lighting!
