How would I create candlelight portraits? (with lights not candles) What I mean is light coming from one side, and the child looking towards the light, 3/4 of the face is lit, all black background. I have some continueous lights with umbrellas and a nice natural lighting window too. What settings do I need to adjust with my camera? I have a Canon Dig XTI.
Thanks
Jodie

candle is pretty hard light...considering the light source is about .25 inches...
Why can't you just use candles?

Err have you tried getting a child to sit still? How about sit still for a 5 second candle light exposure :lmao:

Use A LOT of candles.

I was wondering the same thing recently... how to get enough light with candles (different situation though where using another source of light isn't an option). I was thinking about just using 5 - 6 candles bunched together.

You shoot at f0.7. Kubrick did it once for a candle light scene.
