Hi,

I cant set the aperture of my canon 18-55 3.5-5.6 to 3.5 even when the lens is totaly zoomed out to 18mm. Its happens since i bought the camera with that lens. I just tryed every combination of ajustments but nothing works.... i just cant set the aperture to 3.5. Anyone knows whats is happening? Tks in advance!

Zoomed in to 18 mm. Zoomed out to 55 mm.

What aperture can you set it to?

The lens is a variable aperture lens. The aperture will change automatically as you zoom towards 55 mm, and the lens will be at f/5.6 from about 45 mm to 55 mm., and at f/3.5 from 18 mm to about 22 mm where it will start changing to a smaller aperture.

f/3.5 is a bigger numer than f/5.6 is, because thery are fractions.

OMG! FRACTIONS.! :gah:

The higher aperture i can set is 5.0 when the lens is zoomed in to 18mm and 5.6 when it is set to 55mm!

I am starting to think the lens or the body have some kind of trouble and its better to talk to canon!

Tks for your interest!!!

All I can say is I feel your pain I looked at the title of the thread and the hair on my neck stood up I really despise that kit lens the 17 50 sigma or 17 55 canon if you got the bank roll is quite nice.

LOL... i am working on it! I will buy another lens as soon as possible! Tks!
