Photos NOT OK to edit
This may sound rediculous but even after Google I'm still unclear what to call the base of the camera. My camera came with a battery grip. When I remove the grip there is no longer a base or bottom to the camera. I'm thinking of selling or trading my grip to save weight but don't know the right term for the part or parts I need for the bottom. I can take a picture if that helps.

  • Thanks very much.

The battery compartment door is normally stored inside the part that extends up into the camera when the grip is attached. That door uses a spring loaded hinge, and the user normally slides the door into a holder that is part of all Canon battery grips that I have used. I expect that the part you are talking about is the. " battery compartment door" , but yes a photo would be helpful so that we could be 100% sure what it is you need .

I looked to see if it was attached to the interior of the grip like I saw on one YouTube vid but it isn't. This is a Zeikos grip. I really like the camera but want it to weigh less.

battery door or battery door cover is the name. If you google "battery door Canon 50d" you will find it.

Let us know how your search for a replacement door is going, OK?

Thanks. So far the only ones I see online are generic made in China. Don't know what a genuine Canon battery door goes for but haven't seen one. If the Zeikos battery grip wasn't so heavy I would just leave that in place but want to lighten the load.
