Any 60D users out there with some feedback about the cam? THANKS!

I've taught some classes where a student or two was using a 60D, so here are my impressions.

It's certainly a step up from the Rebels. It is a little bigger (although not as much bigger as the 40D, 50D were...the 60D is smaller than those bodies). It has more features than the Rebels; it shoots faster, it has more external buttons (as opposed to menu based settings). It has the thumb wheel, which makes for easier control of shutter speed & aperture etc. It was one of the first Canon bodies to have an articulated screen and built-in wireless flash triggering.
HERE is a comparison review to other Canon bodies.

I have heard that the image quality isn't up to par. I haven't looked into that very much, so I can't say either way...but while it may not be as good as the best cameras in this range, I don't imagine that it's all that bad either.

Many prefer the 50D over the 60D. Also cheaper

Thank you guys!

Do some research on the new T3i and 60D and you'll find that they are almost identical except for size, weight and ergonomics, and of course price. Unless you need or want a slightly bigger body with a bit more weight, the T3i would be cheaper but have the same features, including, I believe, the same sensor. Check out the preview for the T3i at dpreview.com as well as the review for the 60D.

That has almost always been true between the Rebels and the XXD cameras. They have the same sensors, the same processors etc. The difference is the body...the size, build, controls, features etc.
That's why it's a good idea to compare them in person, so that you can feel the difference and see how they fit your hands.

hi guys..

i had the same question, 550d(t3i) or 60d.. they are almost the same but still i went to t he 60d.. like i felt i want to have the control over a bigger camera with the small screen on top and the wheel.. the flipping screen is really nice.. for me the body is really nice and better than the 550d..

i had a concern about image quality.. that the photos are kind of soft.. although i got the 50mm 1.4 and still little soft.. but it is not the camera.. i tried a 200mm L lense and it was soo sharp and crisp so i don't blame the camera any more..

i think if u want a first camera that you wont change very recently go for the 60d, good luck and feel free to PM me if u have any further questions about it..

good luck :)

Thank you guys so much! :)
