Here's a couple shots to show the performance bump between 2.8 and 4.0 on the 70-200 2.8IS L lens. As you can see, it's a bit mushy at 2.8, but gets sharp at 4.0. I post this for people who are curious about the 70-200 2.8IS lens performance. :)

The first image is full frame to show what is being looked at in detail. The box is the enlargement area, and the red crosshair is what was focused on.
The second shot and third images are 100 percent crop at 2.8 and 4.0 respectively, shot RAW, converted with CS2, no post processing or sharpening of any kind. Both were shot at 200mm.

thanks for posting these, i always enjoy seeing stuff like this. As good as this lens is, i think i'd only consider buying it if it was completely sharp at f2.8, which it doesnt look like it is. I just read the photozone review of the f4 IS, and it looks really really sharp even at f4. And my f4 is already sharp at f4....anyways, thanks for posting

Even at 2.8.. its an excellent image. The interesting thing would be to compare the 70-200mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f4 at f4 and f5.6 in the same manner. My cousin has the f4 version that I could borrow.... on the other hand.. I've have other things to do higher on my priority list
