Hello,

As the title suggests I'm looking for an adapter so that I can use my canon lenses on my pentax camera. Is this possible? I've done a bit of googling but all i can seem to find is pentax to canon. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thank you!

PS - sorry if this is in the wrong forum please move it if so!

Canon EF uses electronic lens diaphragm actuation, not mechanical, so...adapting Canon EF to Pentax K mount is likely not possible, atr least as far as I know.

Mounting a Canon lens on a Pentax, aren't you afraid of getting cooties in your camera? :beguiled:

Couple things as, I understand, there is an adaptor for the Canon FD/FL, but no known adaptors for the EOS. The EOS mount is a bigger diameter, the registration distance is shorter, and there was a lack of compatible aperture control on earlier model Pentax bodies. I'm not sure if the issue with the aperture control has been resolved on later model bodies, if it has then I would think that an adapter could be fabricated, but again there are none that I know of at present.

The mount diameter & registration mean that the only way a mount could possibly be designed for non macro use of EOS lenses on a PK camera would be by adding a significant teleconverter element. I suspect it would need to be at least 2x. This together with the small market size for such an adapter make it highly unlikely one would ever be made even without the aperture issue.

PK lenses on EOS cameras is another matter entirely. I have several such adapters even though I don't have an EOS camera - EOS makes a useful intermediate for adapting lenses on my mirrorless bodies.

Agreed, but even then you're still lacking aperture control, unless the newer model Pentax bodies are compatible. I know the K5 wasnt, but couldn't verify later models.

None of the Pentax cameras are ever likely to be compatible with EOS aperture control, but it is possible to set the aperture on an EOS camera hold down DOF preview & dismount the lens leaving it at the set aperture...

Sounds like a pain to me, but I'm never likely to get an EOS lens. The only ones I'd find more useful than my Pentax models are expensive specialist lenses like the MP-E65.
