Hello,
I have a Canon EF-S 18 - 135mm IS STM lens that has lettering and symbols etched into the lower outer barrel just under the serial numbers. Most of the lenses I see on line have the same markings in white paint. Anybody have an idea why my lens is etched? Not a big deal, but just curious. The rear mount insert indicate manufacture in Taiwan. I'm recently retired, guess this question indicates that I'm totally bored.
