Canon Powershot G7 - Anyone in a position to give a review???

If you currently have a film SLR...there is a good chance that you will be disappointed with anything but a DSLR. Most digi-cams have a serious shutter-lag that is a pain in the rear.

One question i was trying to get answered somewhere else with no luck is:

People have mentioned that with the small CCD that P&S cameras have, high MP cameras create a lot of noise.

If you were to compare the exact same shot from a 7MP camera and a 10MP camera, would the 10MP actually be worse?

If so, is this just at the same size print for example or when you zoom in using photoshop etc?

That is certainly possible...especially if the sensors are the same size...which would mean that the 10MP sensor has more pixels and therefore a dense 'pixel pitch'.

There are other factors as well...the camera's software for example. The G7 is a top end non-SLR digital camera, and is quite new. It's said to have some of the least noise of any non-DSLR.

As I see it...noise is noise. You will see it when you zoom in or in a print. The more you zoom in...the more you will see it. The bigger the print and the closer you view it...the more you will see the noise.
