Canon R3 and Other Delays

This announcement was back on Dec 3, 2021, and after reading it, I ignored it. On second thought, I am posting this "here".

It is not a "cancellation". It is only a warning of sorts, that some of Canon's flagship products will need to be pre-ordered, and then delivery will take a long time -- several months. The reason I ignored it is that this is not necessarily a "new" situation. Canon is not saying that they never did this before. In fact, I am pretty sure that it has happened before, and in fact, it has probably happened with products of other photographic manufacturers. The highest level, highest cost, Pro tools are simply not made in big batches, but on individual orders, and delivery of such products could take such long periods of time. The only thing that might be a surprise is that the "R3" is in that class of products. To me, this is borderline "business as usual."
