hey all,
my girl has a canon t3 and is complaining about when taking pictures at night with the built in flash it is constantly "busy". she is a complete amateur and i do not know much about external flashes. she wants to spend less than 100 bucks on one that will get her by. would greatly appreciate any suggestions for which flash to get her. thanks

Does she know how to use manual flash? Or does she use the TTL flash?

There are a lot of inexpensive third party flashes of the manual only type. There are some third party flashes that claim to be TTL compatible, and they are more expensive. The best flashes are the OEM flashes... in either mode. If you can answer the above question, we can probably make some suggestions that would be helpful.

When the camera says 'busy' while using flash, it often means the batteries are running low, so that's the first thing for her to check.

To really help her flash photos get to the next level, a flash that can tilt & swivel is the way to go. This allows her to bounce the flash rather than shoot directly from camera to subject.

The best choice would be a Canon flash...but you won't find one for less than $100. There are other brands that are designed to work with a Canon camera, but they won't have the quality of a Canon unit....not in this price range anyway.

Here is an example of something that might fit her needs and your budget. Amazon.com: Yongnuo YN-467 Flash Speedlite Dedicated E-TTL for Canon DSLR Cameras: Camera & Photo
