Canon T3i, should I get it?

SO, I am new to the forum here and just wanted to post this thread to see what you guys think. Right now I am using a Nikon D80 with a Nikkor 18-135mm lens & everything is fine and dandy with it and it has served me very well. But I think its time to update already & the camera I am looking at is the T3i, I used my buddies the other day and fell in love! Please give me your thoughts on this camera.

I own this camera, and just took it across the states on a one month vacation this summer using the 17-85mm lens. I mostly got it for video and it's a great camera for it aswell! If you plan on getting it for video, then get it today! If you plan on using it for photography, then the slightly more expensive 60D might be the camera you're looking for. It's got better options for photos such as faster FPS, and a faster shutter speed. I would compare the two and decide if the extra features are worth the money. If you're not considering the 60d at all, then you will LOVE the T3i. Below is a link to my Flickr where most of my photos are takes using the T3i. You can use that just to see some example shots! Yeah dude my friend has it & I used it, immediately fell in love dude. the 60D is a little out of my price range I mean I want to get into video but also like the quality of my pictures. I think this camera has both for a great price. I am also just an amateur photographer and recently picked it up as a serious hobby.

That your D80 is for you "fine and dandy" indicates you have no need to upgrade.

That's pretty much how I was when I got my T3i. You won't regret buying it.

I'm not getting the picture quality that I want with the D80 & using the T3i really shows me what I can expect.

Where do you live? If you live in Canada/USA, you can get it for around $700. In June, that's how much I payed for the body by itself :/

In the US man & yes B&H was the first place i checked they had it for around 745 with a printer included which wasnt a bad price. Thanks man!

Well the D80 is 5 years old, and missing a lot of newer features that cameras today have, such as video. It's only 10MP, and the ISO only goes up to 1600. It wasn't a bad camera when it was released, but it's just not as useful these days.
