Does anyone know any information about the t4i, mostly when it will be released. I thought that they were going to announce it with the 5D Mark iii, but they didnt. Because I was going to get a t3i, unless the t4i was in the horizon, then I would wait. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Rebel series cameras don't tend to advance all that fast model to model. Yes newer ones come out with a few more new features, but much of the time the differences are fairly minor between them. I wouldn't be left sat waiting and waiting for an eventual release, instead I'd go with the t3i, its more than capable if you learn how to use it properly.

I'm just gonna make stuff up...yes the T4i is coming out ...ermm..next week.

Image quality have barely improved over almost 10 years in Canon's digital sensors, and I don't think it will improve much on the next generation either.

Canon's T1i launched in May of 2009.

Just 9 months later the T2i launched, Feb 2010.

The T3i launched Feb 2011, just 12 months later.

Did you check the Canon APS-C sensors performance difference?

DxOMark - Compare cameras side by side

WOW!!!! Canon has not yet broken the 70-point overall score mark!!! Nikon has broken that quite handily, as has Pentax. Both the low-light ISO ranking and the dynamic range ranking are pathetic compared to what the SONY-made sensor in the NIkon D7000 and the Pentax K-5 are capable of. But, seriously KmH, in all fairness to Canon, they have been very, very busy with the photocopier division, and the video camera and lens divisions, and have also been VERY, very busy hyping the megapixel race and in producing all those print and television advertisements. I mean, with all those distractions, there's so,so little time left over for actually improving the performance of the cameras...I mean...there's only 24 hours in a day, and Canon has to make sure the photocopiers, video cameras, cine lenses, and all those other ancillary things get proper care.

Wow, thread fail, seriously....

To the OP, I haven't heard much, but it seems like I heard the same thing you did... announcement around the time of the 5D III. Chances are, even once it's announced there will still be some wait time. You can always get the T3i, and then flip it on eBay if the T4i looks that much better once it's out.

Neh, it's just that Canon isn't going to invest so much money in something that won't bring them money. Most likely is that the beginners won't notice the 1 stop noise performance difference.

See the pattern??? According to the pattern, a T4i is due reasonably soon...probably in less than six months--and perhaps as soon as next month. Seriously. 2012 is going to be a BIG,BIG year for nw d-slr announcements, according to one industry watcher. Canon however, is set to announce its new mirrorless interchangeable lens camera sometime "soon",according to persistent rumors...Canon is very late to the table with its mirrorless ilc system offerings...

Canon has been introducing its XXD-series models on a roughly 18-month cycle. But who knows...as some say, past performance in no guarantee of future performance. Canon re-oriented the XXD lineup, and has so many models, each with three names around the world, and the 60D and T-series and rebel models are all SO,SO SIMILAR that it might actually be hurting sales to have the "T Xi line" so,so similar in both price and features to the Rebel and 60D that Canon might also re-configure the "T Xi line". That is a possibility...
