Canon Xti concern

Anyone know about the Canon Xti that won't take a picture sometimes? When you depress the shutter release button it appears to focus but sometimes won't complete the process by taking the shot. It appears the camera thinks something else needs to be done before taking the shot???

My Xsi does that when I try to focus really close to something. I turn it to manual focus (making sure what I want to capture is in focus) and then it lets me take it. Try that and see what happens, if you haven't already!

Manual focus won't help if your trying to focus a lens that just isn't capable of focussing when too close, (ie. inside the minimum focus distance) usually the camera won't shoot because focus isn't locked, this happens more on cheap "kit" lens in tricky lighting and the lens will "hunt", use flash.
