You're right. I found the same with live dance photography. It's all about gaining a feeling for what's coming next and being able to anticipate when to click the shutter for the best shots.

P.S. ... A little luck helps.

You're absolutely right. Luckily I'm very familiar with matches and how they're laid out. It's the damned photography part that sometimes trips me up haha.
