I think you want to build your self a few massive diffusers. Do you want your specular highlights to run the whole length of the car like the mustang in your first link?

Yes that's exactly what I mean.

Do you have any pure white sheets? If you can make a stand that will hold the sheets up and stretch them tight. Set it up as close to the car as possible without it being in the frame. You could try firing your strobe through the sheet or bouncing it off the sheet. Remember you'll be photographing the reflection of your light source, so the larger it appears the better IMO.



This is also a great place for strobist advice. They hint at how you can do it with a single strobe and just taking mulitple exposures, moving the strobe for each individual shot.
