It's gorgeous inside, but very dark! Any thoughts on how to get the inside shots to look better? They're pretty edited here.

I do not like the outside shots. I like the inside shots better...On the outside, I think you should had stepped back a bit further to take the whole structure better than getting down low ... and losing the lot.

I think the two inside shots are pretty good, considering that these were probably one shot only. Some photographers shoot in dark churches regularly and produce some excellent images using HDR technology.

As for your outside shots; I think they too are pretty good. Trying to get the whole building in one shot usually means details will be so small in the frame as to be unrecognizable.

I am one who has never liked these types of shots, because of the distortions. Maybe a wider angle of lens and crop to the center 1/2 of the inside shots. Sometimes you just can't shoot these photos without being closeup and shooting straight up because of surrounding structures. I try to find a higher vantage point and zoom in on them if I can.

I can't step further back, there are far too many trees around and all I'd get are their branches. Any other suggestions?

I live very close to the cathedral so I'll try to retake the outside ones to see if I can get anything more decent!

Some editing software will do distortion correction.

Instead of just wide shots, put on your long lens and get more details.

I have never done it but couldn't you shoot a series of pictures in a grid pattern and then stitch them together? Then adjust for distortion after?

I really like the last one, I'd straighten it up a bit though, the right side looks low.

You can do a vertical stitch of several images to get all of the cathedral in one image as I did here. Sometimes there is less distortion this way too. The interior shots are actually pretty good. As you live nearby you can get in as much practice as you want!
