I don't want to confuse you, but another reason for understanding WB is that it can be used as a creative tool in camera. How to Use White Balance as a Creative Tool Understanding your camera WB setting will allow you to make changes to reflect your vision for the scene, rather then the camera's vision.

Since you're asking, my recommendation is a simple one. I would bet money your camera is doing a decent job of representing the true colors to begin with so just "go light" on the settings in PS. Avoid the hues and tint, it's not necessary. That's what was recommended to me when I got on here and it stopped me from over processing my pics. Take your time mastering PS, it will come.
