Here's my favs of the photos I did for a friend of her 3 kids a lake superior.

My over all intentions were to photograph the kids in a natural not so posey posey way. Things that I worked on before the shoot was to get the creamy background which I feel I def did learn from you folks and did get that effect I was looking for.

What I dont like: I wish I was able to get the softness/blurry background more in this photo

What I like: They were such hams that day and goof balls and I feel like I captured their personality in this pic. I was working with the sun. Lighting has been a struggle. I think its a bit washed out. espeically around the little girls hair. I really concentrated on lighting and not getting shadows on their faces. Oh yea! and how we got a 2 sec spurt of summer beach rain and caught it in the pic.
What I dont like: how its washed out around her hair. How the whole photo has kinda a washed out look

What I like: I acheived the soft background.
What I dont like: I feel like the coloring is just blah. I want it to pop more.

What I dont like: It doesn't pop much. maybe too centered. Wish she was looking at me more instead of over me.

Ok guys let me have it!! Ready to learn learn learn :)

Dang those are some tan chilluns'. I pretty much agree with your summations here. I think 2 is my favorite of the bunch, even with the somewhat hard back-lit sun. Did you do any post-work to these? Even with some simple (free) programs like GIMP you can adjust the color balance and make that blue pop a bit more.

yea I did edit them. They were harsher. If youd like I can show you the original. What should I have done differently as far as positioning the kids. We did a lot of walking playing shots and they would start in one place and walk run towards me. Simone SAYS!...what a great game for that age frame to get some fun shots! If I had them go the other way the sun was too in their face and they were too squinty at this point in the shoot

I lowered my exposure and increased my contrast and vibrance a bit.

Some are slightly underexposed, but they are not posed, and seem natural. So well done on the posing, but i think some have slight exposure issues.

Yup I know I do it's one of the many areas I know I need to work on hahaha! I did just open my box in the mail!! It had understanding exposure by Bryan Peterson? Pederson? Can't remember sp

First step to understanding it better. Check :)

I think the exposure is not bad. Just need a little tweak on the post processing.

Thank you!! I really have tried to apply what I have learned on here so far! This was the first "shoot" after I had joined and really tried to apply everything I learnred :)
