CCD cleaning frequency...

Curious how often you guys feel the need to clean your CCDs?

I've found that after about 800-1000 shots and probably 8-9 lens changes I need to clean it. I'm not sure if this is because I've just never cleaned it real well? I just use the blower with the soft bristles and it does ok.

For those of you with self-cleaning ccds how often do you have to go in and really clean it? Because you still get "welded" dust right?

When I end up with more than 8-10 spots on my file that I need to remove with Photoshop I end up cleaning my sensor.

... which is about every six weeks or so.

When it needs doing If I see spots, the blower comes out and the mirror goes up.

I've only given my sensor a few quick blower cleanings, in over two years, with thousands of shots and probably hundreds of lens changes.

I have been shooting with wide apertures, so dust is less noticeable. When I shoot landscapes, I'll probably notice more dust and have to clean the sensor.

I've never cleaned mine, but then again it is autocleaning and I've only had it for about 5-6 months

I clean it whenever it gets junk on the sensor that shows on the images. Not very often but I couldn't develop a time table from it.

Like everyone said...whenever it needs it! Sidenote...you only change your lens 8-9 times for every 1000 shots? :shock:

hehe, yeah. A lot of those were taken at a track where for 300-400 shots were taken with the same lens. I may have changed a little more then that.
